The Nuova Fiera di Roma project was designed to meet the needs of the expo and congress sector in an innovative and more adequate manner. The project features a series of twin pavilions, arranged diagonally, connected by a walkway placed 6 metres above the ground.
The backbone of the facility, the elevated walkway represents an effective solution preventing interference between visitor flows and service machinery and equipment handling for the layout of concurrent shows.
Previously designed to be covered with plastic tends, at the end a stainless steel solution was adopted for the roofing of the pedestrian walkway. Arcelor Building and Construction Support Italy gave assistance to the engineer to find the best solution, Ugibright coils, delivered by Ugine & Alz, Arcelor Group's stainless producer. Around 200 tons of AISI 304 BA (12/10 mm thick, 1250 mm wide, #7 coils) were used to cover the walkway. (More information on the job sheet displayed on the left.)
The pedestrian pathway will be accessed by visitors by means of escalators, staircases and elevators for people with disabilities, and from the entries located at the four cardinal points of the new fair connected to the parking areas (North, Main, South, East and West). From these, visitors will reach a large Hall hosting ticket offices and all the general services: bank counter, cafeterias and eateries, offices, etc.
